Overview: Emily's Diner, situated in the heart of Jacksonville, Arkansas, holds a special place in my heart as it offers a welcoming atmosphere. It is named after Emily, the granddaughter of the owner. For more than 18 years, I have been enjoying delectable home-cooked dishes here without the hassle of cleaning up afterward. My first visit was to the original location on James St., which is now called Chicken on the Run. The exceptional customer service and classic American comfort food are what draw me back time and time again. Recently, I had the delightful opportunity to dine at Emily's with Raymond, Momma, and the dedicated staff, an experience that I am excited to share.
Atmosphere: As soon as I walked through the doors of Emily's Diner, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of home-cooked meals and the friendly smiles of the staff. The diner exudes a charming, nostalgic vibe with its cozy booths, retro decor. ,It felt like stepping into a place where everyone is treated like family.
Service: The service at Emily's Diner is exceptional from start to finish. Our waitress, who was attentive and knowledgeable, made us feel right at home. She took the time to recommend some of the diner's most popular dishes and ensured our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.
Food: Now, let's talk about the food – the true star of the show at Emily's Diner. The menu offers a wide variety of classic American dishes, from hearty breakfasts to satisfying lunches and dinners.
Appetizer: We started with the Fried Pickles, a southern favorite. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and tangy on the inside, served with a side of ranch dressing that added just the right amount of creaminess.
Main Course: For the main course, I opted for the Chicken Fried Steak, a dish that Emily's is famous for. The steak was tender and flavorful, covered in a rich, savory gravy that was simply irresistible. It was served with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans cooked to perfection.
The Meatloaf was the choice of my dining partner, which is also a specialty of the house. It was juicy and full of flavor, complemented by a delightful tomato glaze. Served alongside was a comforting and delicious macaroni and cheese.
Dessert: No meal at Emily's Diner would be complete without trying one of their
homemade desserts. We decided on the Peach Cobbler, and it did not disappoint. The cobbler had a golden, buttery crust with a warm, sweet peach filling that was the perfect end to our meal.
